When this local man turns on the steam, you can bet it's at full throttle.
It's a crisp clear fall afternoon, and dappled sunlight flickers on Fred Wittenberg's forehead, as an almost century-old automobile quickly climbs the tree-lined drive and rounds a bend. The sound of chuff, chuff, chuff that breaks the afternoon silence is an unmistakable clue, then, a wisp of white vapor confirms that this is a rare and legendary Stanley Steamer. The deep red paint and polished brass glisten as the huge touring car brakes to a halt and Fred springs from the front seat, grinning from ear to ear, with that certain joie de vivre, known only to those who pursue their lives with passion and purpose.

A spirit of enthusiasm.
Those who know Fred best can tell you that he is the type of person who puts his energy into those things in life that he considers to be meaningful and of lasting value. With his abundant energy and passionate positive outlook, he lives life with a certain bold enthusiasm that touches all those with whom he comes in contact. As Fred puts it, It's a matter of making the most of every moment. I am so grateful that I am able to do what I love, and love what I do.

Roots at the shore.
Many of the values that serve Fred so well today were imbued in him during his youth as he worked side by side with his father on the family's 275 acre farm on the Manasquan River. It was there that he learned to enjoy the pleasure and rewards of hard work, and there where he was instilled with the importance of being clearly guided by a strong ethical compass. Many of the traits Fred is known for his easy going manner, his unflappable, pro-active thinking and his quiet sense of humor were forged through work and play on that beautiful farm so many years ago.

Service and adventure.
Considering Fred's tenacity in pursuing worthwhile goals, it's not surprising that his passion for learning led him to college, and that his love of ships and the sea led him to a commission as an Officer in the United States Navy at the tender age of 22. The travels that transported him from the Naval Air Station in Newfoundland, Canada, and while at sea on a Destroyer Escort, home ported in Key West, Florida, were the mere beginnings of his lifelong passion for travel. His childhood dreams of seeing Victoria Falls in Africa, experiencing the floating markets of Bangkok, exploring volcanoes and rain forests and walking in the footsteps of Mozart and Michelangelo are now only a few of the many experiences he so enthusiastically shares.

The lure of the shore.
While his penchant for travel is so well known, his enthusiasm as he describes the joys of the full, rich shore area lifestyle leaves little doubt as to why he jumped at the opportunity to return to his roots near the river and ocean. As Fred describes it, I'm just so grateful to be able to be able to enjoy living and working in this truly unique little corner of the world, along with the many wonderful people that I've met along the way.

The ultimate resource.
For someone impassioned with such love for the people and lifestyle at the shore, it's no surprise that he has turned this passion for abundant living into a long career as one of the region's leading real estate brokers. With Fred's upbeat personality, unparalleled depth of professional experience, and his enthusiasm for mentoring and coaching, it is not surprising that he is considered by many to be the quintessential local real estate resource.
